Are Instagram collections enough to organize ideas?
As long as everything comes from Instagram and you collect alone: honestly quite good. Saving is one tap, collections are quick to create, and your saved posts are private. For one person with one source that is a solid system.
Two things make it awkward later. An existing collection cannot be turned into a collaborative one, you would have to create a new one and re-save everything. And a collection shows you what you collected, but none of it helps with the question of what you are doing at the weekend.
How to get out what matters without migrating everything
Nobody transfers two hundred posts one by one. Take the short route.

Open the collection you care about most
Usually that is the one with food or with day trips. You can ignore the others for now.

Go through the top thirty
They are in chronological order, so that is your last few months. Anything further down can almost always stay where it is.

Share the posts that still hold up
Open the post, tap share, choose Swiva. Swiva turns it into a draft you correct before it lands in a list.

Where Instagram collections are better
At the act of saving
One tap on the bookmark and you are done. You never leave the app and never lose your place in the feed. That is why most people use nothing else.

Your saved posts are private and nobody sees them. For things you would rather not show anyone, that is exactly right.

The points where it regularly gets stuck
The collaborative toggle exists exactly once
When you create a collection you can set it to collaborative. Never again after that. Opening up an existing collection later is not possible, and neither is adding someone to it.
The collection hangs off a chat
Collaborative collections are tied to the DM thread they were created with. If someone leaves that chat or it gets deleted, their access goes with it.
Grey tiles where a restaurant used to be
If the original post gets deleted or set to private it disappears from your collection too. You are left with a blank tile and no idea what used to be there.
Half the feature is missing on a laptop
In the browser you see your saved posts but no collections and no collaborative ones. Anyone planning on a big screen plans without them.
What Swiva cannot do here
Swiva does not connect to your Instagram account and does not read your existing collections. There is no way to pull two hundred saves across at once, and that is a limit rather than a roadmap item.
Swiva is not a backup either. If the original post gets deleted, the source link stops working here too eventually. What stays is the title, your note and the list. Which is exactly why the one sentence you add while saving is worth it.

Can I make an existing Instagram collection collaborative later?
No. The toggle only appears when you create a new collection. For an existing one you would have to create a new collaborative collection and save every post into it again.
Why can I not see my collections on a computer?
Because they do not exist there. You can see saved posts in the browser, but collections and collaborative collections only live in the Instagram app.
Can Swiva import my saved posts?
No. Swiva has no access to your Instagram account. You share individual posts and Reels through the share menu, without connecting any account.
What happens to posts that get deleted?
The link stops working at some point, in Instagram as in Swiva. The difference is that in Swiva your own title and note remain, instead of a grey tile.
