Pinterest Pins and boards missing? How to get them back

The four things to check first

Pinterest lists these cases in its own help article. Work through them before you rebuild anything.

• A second account you never wanted

  Sign in with Google once and with Apple another time and you have two accounts with two separate collections. Pinterest names this case explicitly in its own help article. Try both sign-in methods.

• Archived rather than deleted

  Archived boards vanish from the normal view but still exist. Go to your profile and scroll all the way down to the archived section.

• You are in the wrong tab

  Boards sometimes open on a suggestions tab instead of your saved Pins. The board looks full, just with other people's things in it. Switch back to the first tab.

• A group board without you

  With group boards you may have left by accident, or whoever created it removed you or deleted the board. Your access depends on their decision.

Deleted does not always mean deleted

This is the one number worth remembering: a deleted board can be restored for seven days. A deleted Pin is gone immediately and does not come back. Both of those are in Pinterest's help article, and most guides out there simply leave the deadline out.

In practice: if a board is missing, today beats next week. For individual Pins, your only route is finding the source again, usually through the account you pinned it from. And if Pinterest removed something for breaking its community guidelines, that is a decision rather than a glitch.

Secret and group boards, briefly

• Secret boards are yours alone

  They do not show up for other Pinterest users at all. If you are signed out or looking on someone else's device, you cannot see them either. That explains a lot of supposed losses.

• Secret boards can be shared too

  You can invite friends or family to pin along, and the board stays invisible to everyone else. That is the nicest part of Pinterest.

• Group boards belong to whoever created them

  You can pin into it, but control sits elsewhere. If the board is deleted or you are removed, you lose your own Pins in it too.

• Removed for policy reasons

  Pinterest can remove content that goes against its community guidelines. Then a Pin is missing without you having done anything.

Pinterest is strong at finding. At doing, it thins out.

• A Pin does not say when

  You have pinned 400 things into “Summer.” At four on a Saturday that helps you exactly zero, because nothing says which of them works right now.

• A Pin does not say with whom

  Half your boards exist because you were thinking of one specific person. That just is not written anywhere.

• Boards grow, plans do not

  A board is never finished. A list for your next free evening is. Those are two different things, even when they look alike.

• The small step after that

  Take the five things that are actually coming up, share them to Swiva, add one line and put them in a list named after an occasion. The rest can stay comfortably on Pinterest.

What Swiva cannot do here

We do not restore deleted boards and we do not connect to your Pinterest account. We cannot reach your Pins, that part has to be sorted out with Pinterest.
