Pinterest Pins and boards missing? How to get them back
A board with 300 Pins, built up over years. Today it is simply not there. Hold off on the panic for a second.

Why did my Pinterest Pins and boards disappear?
Start with the account. Plenty of people end up with two Pinterest accounts without noticing, because they once signed in with Google and once with Apple. Pinterest lists this among the causes in its own help article. Sign out and back in with the other method before you look any further.
Next, check Saved, All saves and archived boards. Deleted boards have a seven-day recovery window. Restoration requires desktop or Android, not the iPhone app.

A second account you never wanted
Sign in with Google once and with Apple another time and you have two accounts with two separate collections. Pinterest names this case explicitly in its own help article. Try both sign-in methods.
Archived rather than deleted
Archived boards vanish from the normal view but still exist. Go to your profile and scroll all the way down to the archived section.
You are in the wrong tab
In a board, choose All saves instead of More ideas. On a business profile, choose Saved instead of Created.
A group board without you
With group boards you may have left by accident, or whoever created it removed you or deleted the board. Your access depends on their decision.
Restore a deleted board within seven days
On desktop
Profile → Saved → Recently deleted boards → Restore Boards. Select your board and confirm Restore.
On Android; use desktop if you have an iPhone
Android: Profile → Boards → Recently deleted → Restore. iPhone: sign in on desktop. Business accounts can restore boards only on desktop.
Deleted an individual Pin?
Deleted Pins cannot be restored. You can search the original website for the content and save a new Pin if it is still available.
Secret and group boards, briefly
Secret boards are yours alone
They do not show up for other Pinterest users at all. If you are signed out or looking on someone else's device, you cannot see them either. That explains a lot of supposed losses.
Secret boards can be shared too
You can invite friends or family to pin along, and the board stays invisible to everyone else. That is the nicest part of Pinterest.
Group boards belong to whoever created them
You can pin into it, but control sits elsewhere. If the board is deleted or you are removed, you lose your own Pins in it too.
Removed for policy reasons
Pinterest can remove content that goes against its community guidelines. Then a Pin is missing without you having done anything.
Pinterest is strong at finding. At doing, it thins out.
A Pin does not say when
You have pinned 400 things into “Summer.” At four on a Saturday that helps you exactly zero, because nothing says which of them works right now.
A Pin does not say with whom
Half your boards exist because you were thinking of one specific person. That just is not written anywhere.
Boards grow, plans do not
A board is never finished. A list for your next free evening is. Those are two different things, even when they look alike.
The small step after that
Take the five things that are actually coming up, share them to Swiva, add one line and put them in a list named after an occasion. The rest can stay comfortably on Pinterest.

Can I restore a deleted Pinterest board?

Can I restore deleted Pins?
No. According to Pinterest, deleted Pins cannot be recovered. Your only route is back through the account you originally pinned from.
Why can I not see my secret boards?
Secret boards are only visible while you are signed into the exact account they live in. Signed out or in a second account, you will not see them.
Where do I find archived boards?
On your profile, right at the bottom. Archived boards are not deleted, they are just taken out of the normal view.
Why did a group board suddenly vanish?
Because it belongs to whoever created it. They can remove you or delete the board, and you may have left it by accident yourself.
How do I turn Pins into something that actually happens?
Pull out the handful of things that are genuinely coming up and put them in a shared list with a note. Then at the weekend you are not scrolling 400 Pins, only five real candidates.
