Where did my saves go? A map of every app you save in
Five apps, five hiding places, five different words for the same thing. No wonder you cannot find anything.
Where do my saved posts, videos and places live?
On Instagram in your profile under Saved, on TikTok behind the bookmark icon, on Pinterest on your profile and in Google Maps under Saved. Links from WhatsApp are the odd one out: they do not sit in a shelf at all, they sit in the chat itself, in the links tab of the media overview.
With Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and Maps, two causes keep coming up. First the account: saved things belong to the account rather than the device, so a second account explains a surprising amount. Second: you usually saved a pointer, not a copy. If the person deletes the original, your entry goes with it. WhatsApp is different: the link lives as a chat message, so finding it later depends more on chat history, search and backup. Below is which guide belongs to which case.
First things first: where things live
Instagram
Profile, menu at the top right, Saved. That holds all your posts and your collections. According to Instagram, collections are managed in the app and not on a computer.
TikTok
Profile, then the bookmark icon above your videos. In some versions the entry point sits in the menu instead. The heart is your likes and something else entirely.
Google Maps
Tap Saved at the bottom and your lists are there. Other people's lists appear under saved lists, but they still belong to whoever created them.
Pinterest
Your profile shows your boards, archived ones sit right at the bottom. Secret boards are visible to you alone, and only while signed into the right account.
WhatsApp
Tap the name at the top of the chat, go to media, links tab. Plus your starred messages in the settings.
Screenshots
Those are in your camera roll and in no app that knows anything about them. No link, no context, just an image. That is why they are the hardest to find again.

TikTok favorites are gone
Usually an update moved the entry point or you are in the wrong account. The TikTok guide works through the causes one by one, including the difference between favorites, likes, collections and downloads.
An Instagram collection needs to become shared
That only works at creation time. You cannot open up an existing collection later or add someone to it. The guide on collaborative collections shows the flow and the alternatives.
Google Maps lists have vanished
Almost always the wrong Google account, a stuck sync, or a shared list that is no longer shared. On top of that there is a limit of 3,000 entries per list.
A tile is grey or will not load
Then the original post was deleted, made private or removed. That guide has a short checklist and shows what can still be rescued.
A Pinterest board has vanished
Usually a second account created through Google or Apple, or a board that was archived rather than deleted. And if it really was deleted: boards can be restored for seven days, Pins never.
The link from the group chat is gone
The links tab in the chat's media overview shows every link from that one chat. Searching inside the single chat and starring messages help too.
Old saves refuse to load
Instagram names no official limit, but very large lists load badly. How to get at old posts anyway is in the guide about the save limit.
The pattern behind all of it
On Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and Maps, saving is built the same way. You bookmark something owned by someone else, and the platform sorts it by date for you. What is missing is the reason. Why did you want to go, with whom, when does it even fit, is there a catch.
WhatsApp is a step worse, because there is no shelf at all. The suggestion just sits between 3,000 other messages, and the decision about it happened in a voice note.
That is why it all feels the same after a few months: full of stuff, short on anything usable. And it is why the fix is rarely a better folder structure. It helps more to take the handful of things you genuinely mean, add one line of context, and put them somewhere other people can weigh in.
What Swiva does here and what it does not

Why do saved things disappear across several apps at once?
Usually they do not. The common denominator is more often that you are on a new device or in a different account. Saved things belong to the account everywhere.
Is there an app that merges all my saves?
None that simply logs into your accounts and pulls everything out. What does work is sharing: you send individual finds onward and collect them in one place.
What should I check first when something is missing?
The account, because it is the quickest check and fits surprisingly often. Then whether the original post was deleted or made private, and whether an app update moved the entry point.
Should I move all my old saves over?
Please do not. Take the things that are due in the next few weeks and leave the rest. Migrating everything is a project nobody finishes.
