Guide: Google Maps
Save a Google Maps place to Swiva and actually find it later
The pin can stay in Google Maps. Swiva gives it the context of why you want to go and who you want to go with.
The short version
Open the place in Google Maps, tap Share and choose Swiva. Review the prepared activity draft, add your own context and save it to a relevant list.
Google Maps remains the better source for navigation, current opening hours and new reviews. Swiva helps you find and choose the place among your other activity ideas.
Save a Google Maps place step by step
- Step 1
Open the place in Google Maps
Open the full listing for the restaurant, park, museum or other place.
- Step 2
Tap Share
Use the Share action in the listing. If Swiva does not appear immediately, look for it under More.
- Step 3
Choose Swiva
The map link is passed to Swiva. Short links are resolved on the server so the actual place can be identified.
- Step 4
Review and complete the draft
Check the name and location. Add why you want to go, what you want to try or which occasion the idea is for.
- Step 5
Choose the right list
Vienna with visitors, date night or cafés for working will help later more than one giant list with no purpose.

The context that helps later
Why this place?
Write try the handmade udon rather than looked nice. That gives your future self something useful to decide with.
Who is it for?
A shared list with the right person is often more useful than a generic favorite.
What moment does it fit?
Quick lunch, rainy day or special evening says more than the category restaurant.
What Swiva does not do with map links
For Google Maps imports, Swiva uses publicly available metadata from the shared link and does not use the Google Places API. The app does not replace the map view or the most reliable current information about the place.
Before visiting, check opening hours, reservation requirements, prices and temporary closures directly with the venue or in Google Maps.
A few quick answers
Does Swiva need access to my Google account?
No. You share one map link. Your Google account is not connected to Swiva.
Can I share an Apple Maps link too?
Yes. Links from Apple Maps can also be used as the starting point for an import.
Is the original map link kept?
The link can remain part of the saved activity, giving you a way back to the original source later.
Give the next pin a plan.
Share it with Swiva and add why you actually want to go.
