How to remove TikTok favorites, one by one or all at once
Six hundred saved TikToks. Pasta, pilates, a café in Lisbon you never went to. You have rewatched maybe twelve of them.
Can I remove all my TikTok favorites at once?
No, not with TikTok itself. There is no “remove all” button for favorites. You remove a video by opening it from your favorites and tapping the bookmark again. Then it is gone.
Deleting a collection helps less than you would think. The collection is gone, but the videos in it stay in your favorites. If you really want to clear out, there is no way around removing them one by one, unless you give a third party tool access to your account.
What the app lets you do
Remove one video
Profile, favorites, open the video, tap the filled bookmark. The video leaves your favorites and every collection it was in.
Delete a collection
Inside the collection, the menu offers a delete option. Afterwards only the folder is gone. The videos stay in your favorites, just unsorted.
Take a video out of a collection only
Depending on the version, you can manage the videos inside a collection and take single ones out. The video stays a favorite though. Handy when it just ended up in the wrong folder.
Find the way in
Favorites sit either behind a bookmark above your own videos or in the menu at the top right of your profile. TikTok likes to move this around. If you find nothing at all, the guide on finding your favorites shows where to look.
When removing gets stuck
“You're tapping too fast”
Remove a lot of videos in a row and TikTok slows you down at some point. That is protection against bots, not a problem with your account. Take a few minutes off and carry on.
Removed, but back again
Happens on a shaky connection. The app shows the bookmark as empty, but the server never got the change. Close the app, reopen it and check the video is really gone.
The collection will not delete
An app update usually fixes it. Some edit options are missing on a computer entirely, so try it in the app on your phone. Also check you are in the right account, collections belong to the account.
Tiles that will not load
Those are videos that were deleted or made private. They often disappear on their own. If a tile sticks and will not open, you usually cannot remove it either. It is just decoration then.
And all of it at once?
There are browser extensions and apps promising to clear all your favorites in one click. They run inside your logged in TikTok or ask for your login details. That gives an outside program full access to your account. We would think hard about that, especially with tools whose origin you do not know.
Honestly, the slow way is often the better one. Fifty videos an evening while a series runs in the background. Along the way you will spot the three things you still genuinely want to do. Mass deleting would have thrown those out too.
Private or public: who sees your favorites
Private by default
Normally only you can see your favorites. If you are not sure whether you changed that at some point: Settings and privacy, then the privacy section.
Delete instead of hiding
If only a few embarrassing saves bother you, removing those is enough. Changing the visibility always affects everything at once.
Likes are a separate thing
The heart and the bookmark have separate lists and separate settings. Clearing your favorites does not touch your likes.
Before you go full declutter
If you want to know what was even in there: requesting your data in the settings gets you an export of your account, where your favorites show up as links. It takes a few days. After that you can delete without worrying.
And the three or four things that make you think “oh, right” while scrolling past: share those to Swiva through the share menu. They land with a note in a list like “When Lea visits” or “Sunday if it pours.” The rest can go.
What Swiva cannot do here
Swiva does not remove anything in your TikTok and cannot see your favorites. There is no connection to your TikTok account and no import of all your saves. You decide video by video what to share over.
A few quick answers
Does anyone notice when I remove their video from my favorites?
No. Nobody gets a notification when you remove a video from your favorites.
Does deleting a collection also remove the videos?
No. Only the folder disappears. The videos stay in your favorites until you remove them one by one.
Does TikTok have a button to remove all favorites?
No. TikTok does not offer one. Tools that promise it need access to your account.
Can I restore favorites I removed?
There is no bin. If you find the video again, just save it again. With a data export from before, you at least still have the links.
Are my TikTok favorites public?
Not by default. Check the privacy section in your settings in case you changed it at some point.
Your next good idea gets to stay.
Save it to Swiva and come back to it when you actually have time for it.
